Quilting Ministry

The Quilting Ministry has been meeting since 2000. Adopting our mission from Lutheran World Relief, we provide a helping hand, a sign of comfort and hope for the future to children and families throughout our local community and the world.

Quilting strengthens fellowship within our congregation, serves as a faith witness to our community and brings us closer to people we’ll likely never meet but can positively affect.

Through a simple combination of fabric and thread, we can reach out to those with some of the greatest needs, not wrapping them in our arms, but wrapping them in the work of our hands.

In 2014, our 36 quilts and 18 receiving blankets were blessed and distributed to Samaritas, Lutheran World Relief, and Washtenaw Department of Human Services.

Everyone participates on the level at which they are most comfortable. The only skill required is a desire for fellowship and/or helping the less fortunate. The ability to tie a square knot, piece, or bind a quilt is optional.
